Program Description

Immerse in the local culture of the people of the Ecuadorian Andes with an award-winning photographer and a renowned anthropologist, and join other like-minded photographers, videographers and writers to document their traditional lifestyles on an 8-day workshop and salon in Ecuador.

Through a mixture of exclusive private portrait sessions and public settings such as the Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun), you will have the ability to document the culture of the Andean people as well as get unique insight into the local history, customs and traditions through a local anthropologist, Trinidad Ordóñez, who will be accompanying us throughout the entire length of the trip.

The aim is to encourage cultural exchange and cross-pollination of artistic ideas throughout the course of the workshop and create a body of work on the subject after the culmination of the trip.

This is not a traditional instructional workshop, but an opportunity to document and understand the lives of the local community up close and personal through our network of contacts in the indigenous communities of the Ecuadorian Andes as they get ready to celebrate Inti Raymi.

Total cost: $2,100 per person includes all meals, local transportation as well as top-rated accommodation. (round-trip airfare to Ecuador is not included) We will also have guest speakers at our peer review sessions.

Total number of participants is limited to 8.
Deadline to apply: April 15, 2010
