Permalink Reply by Alaine Handa on March 24, 2011 at 11:44pm Perhaps, I never really thought of that before. I think pulling from different cultures, different art forms, and dancers who really show their personality inspires me.
Permalink Reply by Mari Nakano on March 24, 2011 at 8:48pm I am a graphic designer and visual artist and I think I need both to be creative. When I collaborate with people, I always learn something new and get extremely inspired by others' creations and ideas. However, having my own quiet time to process all that inspiration is necessary as well. I cannot discount all those "aha" moments while in the middle of dreaming or riding a train.
Collaboration happens on so many levels and can mean so many things - collaboration can be a simple conversation or a complex performance. Either way, there's something that can be procured from these moments or the ranges of moments that exist in between. It's neither and either-or. It's both for me.
