Hello Culturalistas! Here is a dedicated space for you to introduce yourselves and to welcome new friends. Tell us as little or as much as you would like about who you are. It’s a pretty simply idea really, let’s say it’s a sort of welcome and greeting room. Feel free to respond to each other, and to start new separate discussions in the forum if a topic of conversation emerges.

What a great idea! I live in Velddrif - a tiny fishing village on the South African West Coast - my name is Juli Olivier. As you all know, SA is a country of varied, diverse, rainbow people as Nelson Mandela likes to call us.

I worked in finance all my life - other people's money you know! - and decided to retire in Velddrif 14 years ago, all I wanted to do was to persue my art!

Painting, crafting, sewing, gardening, beachcombing, cooking - these are the things I love doing - these are the things I am doing!!! Life is wonderful!

I used to take my own work to galleries, restaurants and gift shops and decided to take other people's work with me, well, that was the beginning of Facilitators for Art and Traveling Exhibitions - F.A.T.E. The majority of the West Coast artists are members of F.A.T.E. and together, we have sold more than 60 paintings!

That's me for now, hope to hear from you all!!
Vuvuzelas are still ringing in my ears! Welcome, Juli! I bet the FATE artists are glad to have you--and so are we!
Hello
I am an artist. My name is Marie Kazalia. My site: http://MarieKazalia.com where you will find images of some of my paintings. I use many Process Painting techniques: layering, poured paint, stain painting.

I also have a blog where I share information w/other artists: Artist Marketing Resources http://ArtistMarketingSalon.wordpress.com
Many of my artist blog subscribers felt a community there and wanted to group for interacting, and now a group on LinkedIN:

great to have you here, Marie!
Hi, I am Julie, a native born Californian, living in Berkeley, CA. I have two grown sons, the oldest at 31, just left from SFO today to fly to and to live in the Federated States of Micronesia. I plan to visit and do some painting there next year.

I will let my art speak for me.... so.... "ate logo", "ciao" y "obrigada"
great to have you here, Juliet! I can imagine you had mixed feelings seeing your son leave! But the prospect of visiting Micronesia must be exciting... aite mais!
I'm doing my best bouncing around on pages at this site and on the internet. I always try my best on computers and are not always so successful, please excuse any small problems that may possibly occur.

What I am much better at is painting. I wander around where ever I am with a watchful eye and find something that I want to paint. Sometimes I return to that spot later that day, week, month or it's a project I keep on the back burner. I'm addicted to painting outside mostly on the streets of NYC, but where I end up, I get to do my two favorite things, paint and talk. While painting outside I met the most kind, interesting, funny, and supportive people. However, I am not a fan of freezing my patutty off in the winter, but have on occasion painted with the shivers. During the winter months I prefer to stay inside and print or do maintance on my skills with the figure, so I'll find a session somewhere.

Overall, making art makes me happy and now there is one more person on the planet adding love and happiness :)
Welcome to Create Culture Amy. Where is your favorite place to paint in NYC?
