Hello Culturalistas! Here is a dedicated space for you to introduce yourselves and to welcome new friends. Tell us as little or as much as you would like about who you are. It’s a pretty simply idea really, let’s say it’s a sort of welcome and greeting room. Feel free to respond to each other, and to start new separate discussions in the forum if a topic of conversation emerges.

Hi! I am Ishita Biswas, a young Indian. I've recently graduated in Sociology from the University of Delhi.
I developed my interest in art during pre- school itself. Until my 8th grade I had developed great interest in music too, so I started with playing the congo and now guitar. I started dreaming of becoming an artist or musician. But somehow after passing School I started doubting my creative capabilities and I'm skeptical till date.
But when I came across this site Create Culture I became really inspired watching the creative representation of different people all around the world. I realized that you don't have to be a master in every area, everybody has his/her own style and talent.
As for now I'm a student of Animation & Film Making and in future intend to use the medium of Art, Music and Films along with my Sociological knowledge for social causes.
I find Create Culture a tremendous effort of bringing in cultural harmony in this apathetic world destitute of Peace and Humanity.
I really want Create Culture to grow its wings and fly as an ambassador of peace.
Thank You
so glad to have you, Ishita!
Hi all culture vultures:
Greetings from Chiang Rai, Thailand....

Left the big corporate umbrellas to strike out on my own some 30 years ago. Have constantly focused on publishing in the field of art and culture. Now based in Bangkok and Chiang Rai, Thailand and very active in the circle of art and culture engaging in publishing, curating art/ photography shows, conducting cultural travels and consulting on art, media and travel in particular the Greater Mekong region consisting of 6 countries China (Yunnan), Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.
Cheers, Jaffee
Hi Jaffee! Welcome to Create Culture. Where is Chiang Rai? I have heard of Chiang Mai...
Sorry I did not read this till now. Chiang Rai is the northern most part of Thailand (North of Chiang Mai about 2.5 hours by car) bordeing Burma, Laos and close to China.
Dear Jaffee,
I envy you, the Northern part of Thailand is Paradise to me. I got to meet many very interesting artists in Chiang Mai, and there's a very good artist I've heard that lives in Chiang Rai: Angkrit.

Cindy
Dear Cindy:
Yes, so many people told me the same as what you just said. But for the past 5 years, I still spent too much time in Bangkok. I finally decided that I should spend more time in CR from now onwards. I'm very close to all the artists in the north and Angkrit is a good friend and in fact I may be seeing him tomorrow on my way to Maesai. He also runs a gallery in Nanglae opposite to Tawan's "Black House". You have to visit the Black House if you have not done that. Let me know if you come up this way. You may email me direct Will be happy to show you around. The rain seems to have stopped and now the weather is very nice and cooler. Come Oct 22 - 24, we will have our first Arts & Music Festival. I'm involved with organizing the event. Come join us.....Jaffee
Hello All My name is Bill,
What I do is think all the time whether I want to or not. Who I am is not as important to me as the question of why I am here. I wonder what culture is in and of itself. Is it a pattern of behavior? Is it something people can have excuses to fight over? Is it an active and living history? Is it something MegaMultinationalCo-Inc can add sugar to, put in a clever package and addict people to? I am intrigued by anything that has the potential to evolve in a fundamental way. The escape from pain is to the best of my knowledge, the "thing" driving most people including myself. "Can I face my own pain and not spiral off into various addictions?" is a question I have yet to really experiment with or if you wish to word it this way, self evolve around.
Each moment could be fresh for me- maybe. Each drawing could be not reducible to a label? Is that even possible? I dont know.
none of it is reducible to a label! Keep creating, William!
Back from a trip to Scotland, Netherlands and Belgium researching family history and WWI, starting up another academic year teaching art education at Adelphi University, Long Island, USA. Looking forward to making lots of art this year and still interesting in gathering names of people/organizations working through the arts with children and youth in post-conflict settings. Cheers
Welcome back, Cindy! Did you see info about the Theatre and Peace Building conference on the homepage? There is a link on the right side banner, organized by LaMama, Theatre Without Borders and others.
