Hello Culturalistas! Here is a dedicated space for you to introduce yourselves and to welcome new friends. Tell us as little or as much as you would like about who you are. It’s a pretty simply idea really, let’s say it’s a sort of welcome and greeting room. Feel free to respond to each other, and to start new separate discussions in the forum if a topic of conversation emerges.

Permalink Reply by Vanessa De Smet on December 18, 2010 at 3:45am Hello Everyone, I was invited by John R. to join after he saw my project video on Kickstarter. I'm a Belgian photographer, based in Beijing and currently working on a multimedia documentary about the contemporary artists in Mongolia. These guys amaze me with their passion, talent and genuine connection to nature and life. If you like to learn a bit more then please have a look at the video:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1358410321/mongolian-contempor...
It hopes to raise funds so 3 creative projects can continue. Donations are rewarded by some real cool stuff like a signed sketch, photo, painting or even a sculpture.
I hope you are all well!
Warm greetings from cold Mongolia!
Thank you kindly ;)
Vanessa, Eya and Dermee

Permalink Reply by Brio Art on January 2, 2011 at 9:04am Hello to everyone! We're the Cultural Association B.R.I.O. Brilliant realities under observation, from Italy! We do visual anthropology. We work and communicate with the images! We
study and document the popoular traditions! The association is no-profit
and intends to work towards a wider diffusion of "cultures". The
B.R.I.O's project has come about to re-consider and systematically
gather together all that is a bearer of uniqueness in places and people
and also intends to stand out and be able to attract resources and
funding and to promote eco-compatible post-modernisation, starting from
the local and expanding out to the global, and/or viceversa. We made two
documentaries and photographic books about religious feasts in South
Italy. We do courses about anthropological video-photographic
documentation and analysis ethnological. Visit our website, you'll try a photogallery too! Tell us what do you think!
Greetings
B.R.I.O.'Staff

Permalink Reply by Alexandra Martin on January 9, 2011 at 9:33am Thank you, Nico, for the welcome and the link.
Like you, I dreamed of living by the beach and now I can do it! 1/2 block to the ocean! But I really miss NYC and the energy found there. I think I will like living at the beach once I finish my renovations. Maybe I can learn to relax and go with the easier flow found here...

Am writing from a small town called Bamenda in the North West Region of the Republic of Cameroon, a traingular country called Africa imminature (because it has every landscape, climatic condition, forests in the east, deserts up north, savanna in west and north west, beaches in the south, over 240 ethnic languages in this nation with hospitable people.) situated in the central african region.
A run a small art workshop and coordinates a small centre called Community Youth Arts Centre (COYAC) were we train underprivileged children and youths in the community in all fields of art, in order to promote arts, culture poverty and unemployment. We get them to learn a trade in this field and after which they will have to realise sustainable developmental initiatives to support their communities. lt is a non profit centre with little support we only do our best to make ends meet. You can watch a short video about our centre by visiting www.africanews.com/site/list_messages/20403
Am very open minded, like to share ideas and experiences, exchanges. l like watching soccer and like traveling, attending art and cultural programs, residencies etc but have had the opportunities due to ineligibility either because of my background, finances to attend and a lot more so l said to myself that can not stop me from making my own contribution in the art and culture sector in my community, country, Africa and why not International. l said to myself because l do not have the opportunity to travel and share and exchange and let our voices be heard through our talents and culture from this part of the globe, l decided to do it from here by joining you all to share and communicate.
Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions about our art and culture. l am alway available to talk to people, conceive ideas, share and collaborate with interested persons. Once more l say am happy to be here with you. Thanks
