Hello Culturalistas! Here is a dedicated space for you to introduce yourselves and to welcome new friends. Tell us as little or as much as you would like about who you are. It’s a pretty simply idea really, let’s say it’s a sort of welcome and greeting room. Feel free to respond to each other, and to start new separate discussions in the forum if a topic of conversation emerges.

I’ll start then, my name in Nico, I started this site with my friend John because we wanted to bring together artists, cultural workers and culture bearers from different cultures together to learn about each other and to collaborate, and as result to “create culture”. We’re passionate about the idea that culture is a constant work in progress and that when creative content producers from around the world come together to create something new, they are laying new foundations of culture, tradition and heritage- one collaboration at a time.

Anyway, about me then, I am a proud dad to a 16-month old daughter, husband, son, grandson, brother, friend. I am totally crazy about soccer. I am French, British, Indian, American and Hawaiian (by birth, blood, culture and/or association). I have learned “hello”, “thank you” and “I love you” in several languages and this has served me well on my travels and here in New York. I play music, or should I say, I try, the guitar mainly, and now the tiny piano we bought for my daughter. How about you? Who are you?
So, how do you say those words in Portuguese, Nico? ; ) I collect "Thank you" in different languages...Maybe you can teach me some!
I had some piano classes when I was a child in Brasil, but I stopped because my parents couldn't afford anymore. And I wanted to play the accordeon as well!!! L O L
hmm... "Oi", "Obrigado", "Te amo"... yes??!
Hello Friends,

I started this site with Nico. I still remember his phone call not so long ago in which he urged me to get in touch with him as soon as possible because he had something really important to propose. When we sat down at the local sports bar in the dog days of summer to discuss the concept of "creating culture" over several beers I was immediately taken with Nico's energy and enthusiasm and was very excited about the possibilities that could bloom from this idea. I pictured a tree with roots made up of people from different cultures. The tree fed itself as members shared their artwork, perspective, and stories. As the tree grew creativity resulted in branches focused on collaboration, diplomacy, slow travel, funding for artists, and more.

This website is our sapling. We thank you for joining. Hopefully we will all look back from the tree tops and celebrate where we came from and how we grew together. And, one day I hope to be an old man sitting in a sports bar with Nico talking about all the wonderful people we have met and the positive change that has occurred as a result of us having focused on this concept of "creating culture".
I'm glad that Ya'll got together and "planted that tree," thank you! :>)
I bet that's funny, You playing You're daughter's "tiny piano," and do Ya'll fight over it? LOL: Dad, give me my piano! :>( LOL!
My name is Katia Moraes and I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I love to sing, write, dance, read, smile, yoga, meditation, hike, talk with my cat Feather... hi ! Or like we say in Brasil.. Oi!

Hi, My name is Neha Singh and I've enrolled onto this site as an art lover, although I try hard at being an artist. I'm basically very studied and since I've reached a block in the professional life, I have taken to purging my self with art. Although, I've always been arty in my tastes. I have worked very hard, as Nico put it, at keeping my passions alive. I read, meditate, solve peoples' problems and I love Sanskrit, it's a language of the soul. Although, most of us mortals can't live up to the lofty ideals expressed in Sutras and prayers in Sanskrit, we can at least try to make this world a better place.

I feel particularly confounded in this phase of my life, as I'm surrounded by peoples' failures and problems that I simply just can't come out of!! It's like the more you succeed, the more tangled you get! I would like to thank the founders of this site for the wonderful opportunity they've given us and I hope that people appreciate and benefit from this site.
Thank you, Neha, and welcome! I hope that the failures turn into successes
You can only do so much neha, sometimes people have to take your advice and use it, if they don't, well, You tried to help, that's all You can do! ;>)
Well, hello everyone!

My name is Hector Murrieta, I currently live in Mexico city. Music has always been a passion of mine, I enjoy lots of different types of music, so I started playing the guitar years ago, and eventually made it a career (you can listen to my work here):

I've been fortunate enough to travel to different countries, and love to do so. Other interests of mine include basketball (which I practiced a lot during my adolescence, still do), Yoga (Hata Yoga, which I started practicing recently), science, art/paintings (I've been to a lot of museums around the globe), videogames, movies, psychology, etcetc.

Cheers!
