Photoshop works as a form of art? Does digitalisation take anything away from art?

Culturalista Makwete Averil Mashigo in Pretoria, South Africa, posted this question in her profile: Photoshop works as a form of art? Does digitalisation take anything away from art? What do you think? Is digitalisation simply a tool or does it create an artistic layer to the work- or even create a new piece altogether? is there a photoshop art?

Of course there is PS Art. Digital art is very experimental, especially Corel Draw, PS and Flash. The basics remain the same but the net effect is amazing. It's also affordable and storable, much more than art pieces. Photoshop, however, is a tool for photos, touching up, airbrushing etc. However, I love digital art and experiment with various mediums, for eg, I take out print outs on paper, transparencies and sometimes on colored paper, handmade paper etc.
We really can't say that it takes away something from art. Digital art is to an extent another genre of art so obviously it has its special characteristics different from raw hand- made art.
