hello!
Please do pardon if this question isn't so clear. It's a subject i'm interested in, and i haven't quite figured out how to phrase it.

Soo...
We all know the stereotype - the emotiionally unstable, binging, buggin-out, manic, guilt-ridden, whatever-it-is, entirely passionate, human, struggling artist.

So, even if they didn't fit that stereotype, what happens when an artist becomes mmm.. content? Or rid of ego? More on the path of enlightenment? Healthy?

How does the art change? productivity? What do you think?

Thanks!

be well,
Sara

Hi Sarah! I' m not really closing the door... meaning I wouldn't want to presume that some artists are enlightened and
some are not. But I would like to see this matter on a positive side. I think that there are lots of misconception about artists and about what artists should be or be projecting. It is also sad to note on my part that even a number of artists that at least i've got a chance to meet (so they think ...and sorry for this) that they need to appear like kind of "especial" in manners, in ways, in thinking and in appearance so that they can be really be "artist" (whatever they're thinking about...or that stereotype you say). Of course, I believe that to some degree we must strive to understand what really life is (at least to each individual, to each our perception or experience) to be profound and to perhaps to be able to produce a work that is relevant even at least to this period or this generation. This is what I think being "enlightened"... and what you're citing that is ..."rid of ego"?... i think it's impossible to be someone like Buddha or Christ. This could be very difficult. Perhaps, tame an ego to be objective and "enlightened" as you say. I think, too, there's a need to be grounded for artist to be better or productive?... but you know somehow this is even very idealistic. Admittedly, it really requires a lot of wisdom to
understand the "mystery" of art making and the "art maker" ... and "who should be the art maker." But you know... I would like to think that artists are the more realistic and objective people... in other words are normal.
I think art is very personal for a person who is full of emotions and passion to explore new things, once one gets closer to contentment the work becomes less personal and I think more spiritual. It's not the artist that creates but its coming through them...
