What is your biggest obstacle to making art?

I have been trying to figure out how to make my small dining area into a studio space. My sense is that this will open up the possibilities for me to create work again but for now without that I am stuck. I am interested to know what obstacles other Culturalistas face to make work, or maybe I should say to be making work as often as you would like... is it a lack of time, space, other responsibilities, cultural imperatives...? let me know! Would love to exchange with you on this subject.

Hi Eunoia,
It is like a high of sorts. I find especially when I oil paint, I can go without eating, sleeping, combing my hair, (LOL, yeah, kind of personal there huh?)
When I finally do detach from painting, although it happens with just drawing too, it's like I see ordinary things that I see everyday, ex: trees, the sun, the moon, buildings, everything in a different way, and I'm imagining in my mind, how would I draw that? Maybe it's the fumes from the linseed oil, and turpentine ? LOL, if so, that's fine with me, bring it on, I say! But maybe it's something else, a natural high? Yes, I'm fairly sure that's it.
I did a drawing recently of an image on the screen at my Church sanctuary, yes, I'm worshiping, the Lord, during the service, but I also have an eagle eye on that screen, because there are some great pictures to draw later on.
My Mom was funny, when she found out I was doing my latest, "Sanctuary Screen Art," LOL, she said, " yeah, I looked over, and you were staring at it like a lunatic!" LOL, yeah Momma. :>)

I know that I have faced the same obstacle (space)in my room. That is a key factor I believe - you must make a space for your creative juices to flow- so everything is in the open and easy to touch & see, it will help TIME to be not such an issue. I also am deco crazy & have made 1 room supply 3 different areas of spaces -1 office/den includes a couch to divide the room, so 2 dining table area has it's own nook & most of all 3 an art studio area so my stuff is easily accessible. This room is just shy of 12'X 16' & is like open but 3 rooms in one. I get a lot of complements on my deco and room designs. So if I can be of any help would love to do so- Facebook is my hang out & has lots of pics of the remodel jobs I'm doing on my home- in photos MY Album- My house and yard under construction. And shortly I will be putting pics in that album of the very room I was speaking of. So lets be friends if you like.
Oh & my dilemma for creating is $$$$ to buy oil paints and canvas- my brain is about to explode w/ so many ideas.
