JET Flying Low

This is an original JET III oil on linen circa 1988 and is a 17.5" square canvas and combined with a 30.5" x 32" driftwood and hardwood frame. It is a part of the Marine Park Brooklyn Series and done in the winter on the inshore side of Jamaica Bay and on the National Park Beach environment from late 1987-1990. The painting was painted in 1988 then framed and displayed in NYC East Village during 1988-90. "Flying Low", or Low Flying JET shows a jet plane cleared for landing at JFK airport flying low overhead. When the weather visibility was poor, planes literally passed close overhead. One of the airplanes was The Concorde, which was going to from Paris, France everyday around 1:00 PM. Symmetrically balanced, the painting and frame now form an integral pair of components. This is one of the few surviving beach frames from the Solo Exhibition at the Emerging Collector Gallery located on Second Avenue and near 4th Street. Unfortunately, many of these original driftwood frames were destroyed.
