These instruments are called -KARAKEB (or gargabaz ...) and artfully, masterfully are played in the hands of these Gnaoua guys...

The photographs were taken by amateurs but the real intense trance and emotional state of being truly is coming through...
The Gnaoua (Gnawa) are the sufi tribe who came from Ghana to Morocco.
Very passionate and trance music. I'll try upload the live recordings we did when I have a minute or better yet, Join us to Morocco May 28/2010 and hear & see & trance for yourself....

Once again, a very rich photograph; the colors of the red on white, the darkness of the skin and the wear on the instruments. A unique looking tool to play them with, and the metal instruments. Nice. Anticipating hearing this music of you have it or can find examples online. Thank you for sharing.
