30" x 30" Aqueous Oil on Canvas, 2" deep. This series of paintings, there are 4 total, was inspired by the theory that unicellular organisms, the ancestors of all Life, had their origins in the primordial, arsenic laced swamps of our undeveloped planet. Through the millenia members of these fundamental life forms have survived and thrived. They live in the most inhospitable places: the stratosphere, deep sea volcanoes, methane ice flows. After all changes and catastrophes large and small have come and gone, these organisms will abide. To me, they represent the steadfast beauty and complexity of Life through all adversity.
