I began my life like a blank canvas more than 40 years ago in a rural Bangladesh. Last 24 years I have produce work expanding from painting to installation and sculptures. It was a ride through very rough, hard and hush like a cyclone sea waves, I am in the middle of it, to experience the pain and the joy for the creation of my work and find the light to shine, where I can smile a little.
When I began my creative process at my early age it was very much drawing form where very often I wanted to colour my drawing but not have any colour around for me to use, so I use very natural materials like tree leaves for green colour, seeds for red colour and turmeric for yellow and sometimes mixing turmeric and blue writing ink to make dark green.
The sculpture and the installation are about our journey - where we go through our hopes and visions, each day creating a new chapter and looking forward to seeing more.
I am inspired by psychology, philosophy, classical music and day-to-day human existence; the work that I produce is far from traditional. Actively attempting to shatter staid perceptions of art history, my work synthesises colour, element and presentation, resulting in a hybrid of unusual forms.
To date, most of my large-scale installations and paintings have been concerned with nature, public spaces and the environment. Frequently created from glass, steel, light, paint and sound, each new installation is informed by the last, meaning no single work has a start and an end, but instead adds a chapter to an evolving narrative.
Drawn to create work that is site-specific, my sculpture and paintings encourage interaction with the natural surroundings, both by the art itself and the viewer. The work relies on the space in which it is shown, in order to complete the story it is trying to tell.
My work sets out to simplify our daily lives and the diversity of mankind. In doing so it reflects the imaginative power and ever changing creative forces of new formative arts.
