About Me And My Work
Basically a visual artist. Have had some one man shows and a number of group show. Went to Darwin on a short residency before proceeding to ARX3 in Perth in 92. passed by Singapore on my way to OZ and back home to connect with Singaporean artists there with ARX connections. I remember Tang Da Wu and Amanda Heng. I work in the abstract and informed by Zen & Christian thoughts. I also work in installations and conceptual art. At the moment, trying to find time to really do work for future exhibitions. Have presented two ideas for a group show but so far, the two galleries I proposed the idea to doesn't seem to be appreciative. I think they'd rather have selling shows. *At the moment, I'm trying to reinvent myself as a writer.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
My dream collab is an idea I've always wanted to realize that pushes boundaries and erases our preconceptions, biases, misinformation about the 'other'. It will be multidisciplinary and will involve countries. The 'artwork' will span the globe and it will need a lot of support. It will need a lot of money also. It will be the first of its kind. And considering the scope and breadth (did I spell it correctly?) it will be a big headache. It will need understanding, consideration, thoughtfullness, patience, give-and-takes, kindness...etc. what it don't need is a bloated ego. While I believe that artists are priveleged with that ego and need it to survive (to a certain degree) a collab goes against that grain. A collab, in the true sense and meaning of the word, is a collaboration of egos. Not a clash of egos.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
When I started to be aware of art, the early Masters were influences. And when I was till a kid, not yet eight, the pictures inside my grandfather's Books of Knowledge were early inspirations. Then the comicbook drawings. And as I got older, films were sources of visual inspiration. And books served as idea boosters. Like vitamin pills and food supplements. / Favorite artists...consider all of them...too many to mention here. Among the movements, I like Dada, Bauhaus, the Beatniks, the Hippies...

When I was a kid, the Frangipani was a favorite flower whose scent I loved. Though the superstitious in my country associate it with death because it's often found in cemeteries. And perhaps one reason I loved Darwin was its weather. And the trees were very much like our trees in the Philippines - the Frangipani, the Banyan, the Acacia...and Darwin was so clean and pure one could smell the Eucalyptus. And I loved the sound a digiredoo makes (is that the right spelling?). So I'm wondering just now, is this a piece of luck? A Frangipani drops on my lap(top)? Actually a PC but thought using the word lap and associate that with the web seemed right. Hah.
