"No Nico, I didn't go the last 3 months anywhere but Amsterdam. Now I'm preparing my solo performance so until end of the year I'm here. I saw the photos of the musicians you have, very nice photos."

About Me And My Work
I studied the drama school in Mexico City and make a M.A. in theatre and anthropology. Later I studied photography in the Netherlands. As a child I dance for 16 years classical ballet. I stopped completely with ballet but I guess all those years of my life gave me a strong base to follow, later on, different types of dance that I still love, like belly dance, tap dancing, prehispanic dances. Now a days in most of my work I use, as physical tool or quality of movement, one or another type of dance. I work also with stilts in some performances. I have a special interest in make-up and I studied it for 3 years.
Since last year I started Dimension4 Theatre, a transcultural theatre laboratory. Base in theatre, anthropology and social studies. The aim is to work together with artists of different nationalities and artistic backrounds in International projects.
Places I Would Like To Visit
For me travelling is like going into a unknown theatre/improvisation experience. I think is one of the best ways for me to get inspired by other cultures and to see how in every single corner of the world is something to admire.
I was in India for some months and after a year I still can see how this trip have been of great influence to the work I'm doing, in one or another way. I would like to go back and engage in an intensive Kalari trainning. I did it for 3 months and I think I still have to learn a lot of this Indian martial art, I would like to take the physical part and the precision of Kalari to the stage.
As a photographer and anthropologist I would like to experience again and to research more on Theyyam, a popular Hindu ritual of worship in North Kerala.
I'm also interested in what we, the human beings, believe and the rituals we do.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
Sneaking in, somehow... working on it. Besides this theatre production I would like to make contact with artists who would like to create a theatre collective production based in social/personal stories, improvisations. To join as much diciplines as possible with one common theme and to research how all the different diciplines can come together on stage, giving the air to each discipline to breath and express, finding the balance within one theatre work.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
Odin Teatret, Ay Ombe Theatre, Antonio González Caballero, Remedios Varo, Jan Svankmajer, Picasso, Terry Gilliam, Hal Hartley, Carlos Castaneda, Elena Poniatowska,
My Artistic Affiliations
Actors Union Mexico, Magdalena Project
