About Me And My Work
I’m puppeteer in the Sema Thai Marionette troupe from Thailand. My string puppet or marionette has a Thai nationality. “SEMA” have the means “Boundary marker of a temple”; A symbol in Buddhism to prevent the wickedness with the aim for Semathai have a way to bring the story content the principle of moral, ethics along the teachings of Buddhism as a way of creating works. From the beginning of born the string puppet or marionette art in Thailand. We has developed and creating Thai string puppet this from educational materials and find out methods create a puppet and control our own. We create string puppets almost 100 puppet and have stories for show more than 30 stories both rewritten and adapted from the folk literature and Thai literature. and the identity of Semathai has the cultural roots of Thailand an inherited continuously, we have received support and promote Thai puppet to represent the participation in cultural exchanges in Asia and Europe continued.
Places I Would Like To Visit
Year 2008, Semathai led the art of string puppet shows the stories “Chao Ngor”, which a puppet show to written new adapted from the literature on Thai stories “Sang Thong” the poetry by King Rama 2, and presented in English, participate in the contest and publish the World Festival of Puppet Art Prague 2008 at Prague, Czech Republic. We have received “The Most Poetic Creation Award” from this show, and nominated awards for “The Best Director and The Best Performance”. This is the first time of us open show Thai string puppet toward the eyes of foreigners.

Year 2009, Semathai marionette has become integrated into the study of national art the hun luang (large court puppets); this is the art of manipulation to control the line of the puppet movements from below, and is creating new puppets to 18 puppets in the form of Ramayana string puppet was inspired by the traditional folk art puppet. We have been selected as one of 29 teams from around the world, nearly 300 of the puppets world, to the string puppet show on "The Battle Prommas" has participate in the World Festival of Puppet Art Prague 2009 at Prague, Czech Republic. We has receive “The Best Traditional Original Performance” and nominated award for “The Best Artistic Creation”
