About Me And My Work
I am a writer who loves art. I started my career about a decade ago as a journalist, writing for newspapers and magazines. I've authored two nonfiction books and, on occasion, dabble in poetry. In 2008, I launched a site/blog covering arts, culture and creative pursuits titled The Madness of Art (http://madnessofart.com). One of the great pleasures of working on the site is having the opportunity to discuss the creative process and work of artists of varying disciplines. After recently exploring the screenplay form, I am set to embark on the journey of writing my first novel.
Places I Would Like To Visit
Most, probably all, of the traveling my wife and I do involves or revolves around some sort of artistic experience, from enjoying the culinary arts in Napa Valley to encountering artists from across the globe at the Santa Fe International Folk Art Market to soaking in the sounds of a diverse group of musicians at a summer concert festival. In the fall of 2010, we'll be traveling to Paris, London and Amsterdam, and art—from architecture and museums to street art and more—will certainly be on the itinerary.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
A long list of musicians for a writing project that's been kicking around in my mind for a bit.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
All the creative souls I've encountered throughout my life have influenced me either directly or indirectly. As for favorite artists, there really are too many to name. Charles Bukowski, as you would be able to estimate after entering my library, is tops the very lengthy catalog of my favorite artists. And that list, thankfully, seems to grow on a daily basis.
