Contemporary realism, landscapes, portraits, still lifes, abstrct work, and ant-war paintings
About Me And My Work
I am a second career artist; I went back to my first love, painting, after teaching in a whole other field at Hunter College. City University NY (Health care policy and organization). I studied in my teens at the Educational Alliance and at Hunter College studio classes when I decided it was time to paint again. I have been a contemporary realist, because I am in love with the beauty of the real workd, and I have lived long enough not to be sucked into trendy angst and ugly distortion. But I do look and look again to see what other artists are trying to say.
In 2007 I started a series which continues until today: My "Issues of Our World" paintings speak out about the wars we should not be in and contrasts the people we hurt, our own and the people of those lands, with our still lovey lives in our beautiful country.
Artistic Experiences I Have Had On My Travels
My travels have been the source of most of my paintings and drawings, Italy, Spain, Norway, and Bulgaria, among others.
Places I Would Like To Visit
Prague, Romania, and back to Italy, Norway, and Barcelona.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
I would have loved to collaborate with Turner. He spoke out and painted in protest about slavery.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
Turner, Monet, Vermeer, The Hudson River School, Cezanne, and Matisse, although you cannot see Matisse in my work.
My Artistic Affiliations
I show in a few galleries and online, , but I am not a member of any Artists' organization.
Best of all on Your show, go and ... and ... break a paintbrush, LOL! Hey, I love to write too!
I got all of your messages, and look forward to getting them in the future. All 3 comments did go through, I have my email set so that I have to approve before they show up.
I love posting music videos too, it seemed so much easier to do that in the past, now, you get a box thing, I don't like that, I like to see what I've posted, you know?
Best of everything on your show, and Congratulations Eleanor!
Love and Peace,
Cheryl :>)
