Choreographer and teacher-in-dance. Trained in ballet, modern/contemporary, theater, Philippine folk and ethnic dance and instrumentation, Flamenco, Indian, Balinese and Javanese dances. Currently one of the co-director sof the University of the Philippines Dance Company where I teach and choreograph. I am a member of the Contemporary Dance Network Philippines which is composed of contemporary dance companies, artists, school-based organizations, critics and institutions whose goal is to promote contemporary dance in the Philippines and to build bridges locally and internationally for the transformative role of dance in society. CDNP is a member of World Dance Alliance-Philippines. Majority component of our works are expiremental and collaborative.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
That would be staging of a full length work in collaboration with a librettist, composer, set designer ate. Sort of a union of the arts experience.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
My teachers in dance are my greatest influences. To name a few are: Basilio, Edwin Duero, Cora Inigo, Ramon Obusan, Brezhnev Larlar, Paul Morales, Judelle Sicam, Chrisitine Novales, Angel Lawenko and Elena Laniog.
My favorite artists are Merce Cunningham, Serge Preljocaj and Jiri Kylian. Locally is Basilio and Agnes Locsin.
