About Me And My Work
Inbar Bakal was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel and grew up in a very traditional home with distinct Yemenite and Iraqi roots. The Jewish Yemenite culture is known for its musical tradition and strong devotion to the Torah.

She started as a child singer where she was a member of the “Li-Ron Choir” and gained advanced classical training as she participated in International Musical Festivals throughout the Middle East and Europe. Inbar later served 4 years with the Israeli Air Force where she was the first female officer ever in the Anti-Aircraft Combat Division, then a First Lieutenant in Military Intelligence Specializing in Public and International Relations.

Since relocating to Southern California in 2003, she has been writing and rewriting biblical text using old Yemenite melodies about yearning for love and a home for the Jewish people to write a very special and heartfelt album. Every text, tune, and melody has come from the deepest place in the soul. Singing in Hebrew and finding a unique world music sound, she met eclectic taste maker producer Carmen Rizzo with whom she began working on her debut album that features ancient Middle Eastern instrumentation with modern electronic production. Inbar worked with Carmen to create a fusion of old and new elements with lyrics from the Torah and unique instruments. Every instrument has been carefully selected and played passionately by talented musicians: Jaime Muhoberac, Dimitry Machlis and Satnam Singh Ramgotra

Shalom Inbar! Wow, what a great profile. I went to Tel Aviv and visited the Suzanne Dellal center during a US/Israeli choreographer exchange program. Loved your city. What an interesting background you have, not least that you are a former First Lieutenant! I too love Noa. Achinoam! Great to have you on Create Culture. Welcome.
