About Me And My Work

I realized that I am an artist only in 2001 when one of my staff (Buboy Dinapo who is also an artist) in MIASCOR (an airport ground handling company at NAIA) discovered some old works of mine (early 70's sketches in pencil, pen & ink and water color) and framed them. Two well-known artists accidentally saw my works and asked for my "new" ones. I said I had none. They chorused that had I continued doing what I did I would have already be a well-known artist today. That was the start of my artistic career. Now I have retired from work to focus wholly on my art.

Places I Would Like To Visit

I have been written about by DaigdigPinoy.com - an e-magazine when I joined their team doing exhibits at SMX (Mall of Asia) in 2008. They then asked me to do sketches at 168 Mall in Divisoria for more than a month in November of that year. That was when Alexadra Roxas discovered me and had me sketch photos of her friends which she brought with her to Sweden. In a few months time I was discovered by a Facebook friend - Armand Tj - who took me into the team which was supposed to have an ocular of Coron, Palawan - the venue for a take of a movie he was making. We went on a cruise on board 7,107 Islands Cruise Ship for days in march of 2009. Early this year, 2010, I traveled to Legaspi, Albay to do sketches for a collector of mine (she bought one of my paintings in an exhibit at the East Avenue Medical Center) where I did on the spot sketches for a class reunion. Also last month, I was tapped by a Facebook friend who I met in one of my stints at SMX (Mall of Asia) to teach humanity students Art Appreciation (sketching faces) at Enderun Colleges at the Fort.

Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With

My dream collaboration would be to go to France and study art there while doing sketches and paintings of people and of places for a sponsor as a way of paying my way to finishing a college course in art and also to study French which I initially did when I was with Philippine Airlines.

My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists

My early creative influence was of my idol - Michelangelo. Later I read about Claudio Bravo, a Chilean artist. Also, I got interested a lot by the works of Claude Monet, Velasquez and locally, by the works of Juan Luna and Amorsolo.

My Artistic Affiliations

I am presently a member of LUNDA (Luntiang Daigdig Artists), Las Pinas Artists society, FA:RM (Filipino Artists: Realist Movement) & Earth Art. I am also affiliated withh AAP (Art Association of the Philippines).
