Madi Sato is a Japanese/American singer and songwriter, sound healer, poet, actress, and teacher. For over fifteen years, she has performed and recorded music - ranging from blues and jazz to sacred world music - both nationally and internationally.

About Me And My Work
15 years of singing, writing, recording and touring nationally and internationally the music ranging from jazz to blues to sacred world music. For the past 7 years I have been singing traditional Japanese music and collaborating with artists such as the legendary Paul Winter, grammy winning taiko drummer, Koji Nakamura, as well as, Tibetan singer and activist Yangjin Lamu.
Places I Would Like To Visit
I have had the opportunity to meet and work with celebrated musicians who are known for their commitment to sacred and healing music. Musicians who come from Japan, Australia, Brazil, Trinidad and Native American artists as well.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
To put together a theater piece which incorporates my original music and traditional sacred music. I'd like to collaborate with Ainu musician, Oki and also Sami musician, Mari Boine one day.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
My mentors have been actress and singer Chris Calloway, Sound Healer and singer, Silvia Nakkach, Traditional Japanese Shigin singer Michiko Pierce, Nihon Minyo singer and shamisen player, Hiroko Sensei, Taiko drum master, Koji Nakamura and Reverand and Author Cynthia Bourgeault. My favorite artists currently are Mari Boine and the traditional singers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as well as Celtic sean-nos singer Lasairfhiona Ni Chonaola.
