"thanks Luis! i did it with acrylic; had to use an airbrush to "glaze down" some of the areas. you would have been on the floor laughing; i'm the world's worst airbrush guy, and the damned thing only worked 30 seconds at a time,…"

"thank you, Nico! those are wonderful photos you have posted!! i'm afraid i will never see such things in person - i'm just stuck in a room with my easel, painting all the time!! very best regards, mark jacobson"
i am a painter, working in a very realistic style, although sometimes i also do surrealistic work. i'm most comfortable with oil paint, and often take up to 2 or even 3 months per painting! i studied at the art student's league, and oddly enough, i'm also an optometrist, though i only practice 10 hours a week to pay the rent!!
Places I Would Like To Visit
i have only traveled to Miami - 8 times. By train!! i wish i could live there. the light is unbelievable!! "Next year in Miami!" SO SAY WE ALL
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
i'd love to meet a rather unknown artist named Ralle. but sadly, he has disappeared from the art scene. in truth, i am rather isolated, painting about 45-50 hours a week, and would enjoy meeting anyone who really loves painting or other forms of visual art
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
Vermeer, Dali, Van Eyck, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA starring Edward James Olmos. SO SAY WE ALL.
Mark, again a thousand thanks. I am at the Wynwood art district in a place called Gab Studio. We have two events every month called the Wynwood Art Walk. It's nice, a lot folks gather and meet. Nice art from many artist. People walk to and from all the galleries in the area. I am sorry about the gallery in the Gables and your long gone art. But you keep creating anyhow, you are already ahead man, just fantastic.
Take good care
Mark, if you ever come back to Miami, let me know. I will be glad to meet you. I will gladly take you to the gallery that I have some of my work in. With regards to your work, you are truly an amazing painter, how I envy that talent and eye for color. Thanks again!
