Artistic background
Rebecca F. Hardy is an emerging cross-discipline visual artist from North Wales who currently lives and works in London. She specializes and works in a range of materials and projects, from video installations, painting, 3D objects to black ink drawings. Since graduating with a 2.1 BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) she has continued to develop and explore her practice with new ideas and materials.

Within the past three years Rebecca has been involved in several group exhibitions in London and in Wales. In 2006, she exhibited in a group show at tactileBOSCH in Cardiff titled where we’re@, and in 2008 she took part in three group shows: Works On Paper at the Elysium Gallery in Swansea, an emerging visual art space; Lies, an internet exhibition organized by the ‘Another Roadside Attraction’ online gallery in London; and also a temporary evening exhibition at The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square.

Rebecca has taken on various other creative roles in her career, including freelancing as a ‘documentation artist’ for a public land art project, a collaboration between Welsh and Aboriginal artists in which she contributed a short film and photography, and worked as a personal assistant to Cecile Johnson Soliz, an artist who participated in Strata, a site-specific exhibition in Strata Florida, West Wales.

In May 2009 Rebecca featured in Co-Motion, a group exhibition which coincided with the CIFD’s London's Global Mixtape! No Passport Necessary festival, which took place at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, London. This was followed in July by In a State of Flux, a large and diverse group exhibition at the SOUP Gallery in Whitechapel, London - an exhibit which Rebecca was solely responsible for organising and curating. In August 2009 Rebecca exhibited with emerging and established Welsh artists at the 'Y Lle Celf' in The National Eisteddfod of Wales, Meirion and District.
Artistic experiences I have had on my travels / Where I would like to travel to experience new arts and cultures
Artistic experiences I have had on my travels??.......You can travel far and wide to find inspiration and some deep personal connection but you can also find it just around the corner!! It all depends on how open your eyes and mind is at the time.
My dream collaboration
I am not sure what my dream collaboration is at the moment, however I would like to collaborate with anyone who works with the medium of print-making i.e lino-cuts and screen printing and I would also like to work with video and animation artists, would like to see my drawings move and come to life.
Creative influences / favorite artists
My work is intensely personal and private, and features obscure images which are spread across canvas and viewed in loose ink drawings. These kitsch linear symbols are captured through powerful colours and dynamic compositions; bleeding hearts at knife points, and curvaceous female figures strangled by their own emotions are the representations of complex but mundane human emotional angst.

However, I observes the work as storytelling, conveying events in words and images with the help of light hearted humour. The contribution of text in the work, written in English and my mother tongue Welsh adds both conflict and augmentation to the images.

My work is an argument against women’s traditional views on their sexuality and the taboo of female sexuality. “Honest, Feminine and Raw”

Artists Influence and Admiration: Frida Khalo, Sue Williams, Iwan Bala, Tracey Emin, Marc Chagall, Annette Messenger, Rebecca Horn, Eva Hesse, Edvard Munch and so on........
