About Me And My Work
Rosemary Markowski is an oil painter and sculptor, she has trained at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC and the Washington Studio School. She has designed for a internationally recognized design company and is now the owner of Tangelo Studio.

Rosemary's subject matter includes landscape and portraiture - often with animals. In landscape, the animal is at one with its environment. Its tie to the moment draws the viewer into a state of simplicity and harmony. In portraits, the animal is usually the sitter's pet. This can illustrate the meaningful bond between child and pet, or further explore the relationship between the sitter and her environment.

There is a great honest simplicity in Rosemary's portraits, leaving the
viewer to easily engage with the subject.

Markowski employs fresh and spontaneous brushwork within a framework of realism imparting energy and immediacy to her paintings.

Rosemary now resides in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia with her husband and three young children.

About the vintage family portrait, it's a piece called "Bunny Cancer". The artist's statement I wrote for the show it was in last year is:
"This macabre piece emerged from the family rabbit's diagnosis of terminal cancer. After three surgeries, she lives on today in remission."
