My Discipline(s)
Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Film & Video, Digital Arts
About Me And My Work
30+ years of proffesional computer graphics and the last 5 more on artistic applications. Current work on large ordered geometric graphics and the experience of these structures simultanoeusly as audio and video. Ultimate objective to allow dance in huge virtual graphic spaces where body movement through geometric structures creates audio indicative of the space and movement.
Places I Would Like To Visit
Probably most influential period has been working in Jakarta Indonesia. The web though is a fantastic thing for everyone.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
Artistic software engineers to develop graphic generated audio. Musicians to explore the audio properties of SoundSpace's and formalise composition methods. Choreographers and dancers to translate compositions into audio visual dance performances.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
Seem to be out on my own at the moment.

SoundSpace is a graphic to audio concept based on the trajectory of an audio sensing area over a graphic display. This trajectory can be lines curves and even circles as x and y positions relate to geometry and not position. We are in fact listening to geometry, very different to systems which use the Y axis for frequency and envelope definition. To allow for this trajectory concept all pixels are regarded as a pure sine wave oscillators with colour mapping to frequency. To introduce geometry into the sensing area a listening point(x0,y0) is defined and the phases of each pixel within the sensing area are applied. More work at fully encoding audio from geometry is underway

Are there any tools for messing with voxel sets? I know in ATI's RenderMonkey (see developer.ati.com) and nVidia's FXComposer (shader editors) you can do things, test things out, even 3d texture files - are your voxel sets like .dxf / .x files?

That's incredible!

Have you considered getting in touch with Creative Review magazine?

(They produce/d a series of serious DVDs featuring all kinds of work including temporal and space based art/music/visualisation)
