About Me And My Work
I'm an artist and art historian who simply enjoys art in its various forms. I usually work in realism using oil or acrylic paint, although I do break out into abstract ramblings. I've focused my art history research on 19th and early 20th-century Russian art as well as French art, modernism and contemporary art and theory.
Artistic Experiences I Have Had On My Travels
Met a Soviet poet and artist a few weeks before the 1991coup who gave me one of his pen drawings. Met artists and art professors in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2005. Studied materials and techniques of Venetian artists, Venetian art history, and printmaking in Venice, Italy through one of Pratt Institute's study abroad program in 2001.
Places I Would Like To Visit
There are so many that I don't know where to begin. Iceland, Greenland, Denmark, Norwary, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, The Netherlands, Belgium, Swedan, Switzerland, Egypt, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Belarus, etc.
Art Forms And Cultures I Would Like To Engage With
I'm pretty open to most anything.
My Creative Influences & Favorite Artists
Caravaggio (Spanish and Dutch Baroque painting in general), Valentin Serov, Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Dada, Surrealism, photorealism, hyper-realism, science fiction
My Artistic Affiliations
Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts
