About Me And My Work
The ARTS FISSION Company is poised to become Asia’s leading-edge contemporary dance company since its inception 16 years ago. ARTS FISSION holds the vision of rekindling human spirit by reinventing vernacular movements from urban culture into a new genre of Asian dance theatre.
Places I Would Like To Visit
Artistic Director Angela Liong’s critically acclaimed SHADOWHOUSES, a dance requiem to the 9/11 terror attacks was the first Singaporean act to open the Laokoon 2003 Festival at Europe’s largest arts centre, the Kampnagel Hamburg in Germany. ARTS FISSION, known for its imaginative site-specific works premiered Urban Haiku in collaboration with the T’ang Quartet at the Old Truman Brewery during the Singapore Season 2005 in London, United Kingdom.

The company has been actively initiating international co-productions with artists of diverse profiles on global and intercultural issues for the past decade. In 2004/05, the company presented 12 SMS Across the Mountains, a multimedia production involving 5 female Singapore dancers and 5 male Korean dancers, comments on urban communication of modern Asia with Seoul’s Dance Theatre CcadoO for the Seoul International Dance Festival and Singapore Arts Festival.

March 2007 saw Ghost Exchange premiering successfully in Singapore and Budapest in the first Singapore-Hungary contemporary dance co-production. Most recently, the company presented Dreaming of Kuanyin, Meeting Madonna with Composer Mark Chan on a collaboration project presented in the Singapore Arts Festival 2007. Bleu En Rouge presented in September 2007 was another of ARTS FISSION’s independent creative endeavor to engage young audiences and further new expressions of dance. The success of Ghost Exchange saw the invitation for ARTS FISSION to perform at renown The Arts Summit Indonesia 2007 with the second series Ghost Exchange II in November 2007.
