Josefina Báez shares in “Comrade, Bliss ain’t playing”, a performance theatre text, a performance poetry of an urban
devotee. The work is an intimate journey dressed up with a beautiful vulnerability, taking us to meet her one and only real love, passing thru contradictions and blessings and leaving us at the beginning of sound. She does not shy away from her opinions on current issues, making her altar accessible and her spiritual practice a concrete dialogue.

Josefina Báez is a gifted writer and performer.
Scholars and the audience at large have been delighted locally, nationally and internationally by her unique language.
Ms. Báez (La Romana, Dominican Republic/New York)
directs Ay Ombe Theatre (since April 1986).

Comrade Bliss ain´t playing is now presented as a special bilingual edition, exquisitely translated into French by Sophie Mariñez (France/Dominican Republic/New York) Poet. Ph.D. in French from the Graduate Center, City University of New York. A translator, journalist, and diplomat. Currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of French at Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, New York.
