Saturday was my farewell party and the Visual Arts Council base, the Henry Tayali Gallery. I was called upon to speak, always a mistake as I am a terrible public speaker, despite my background as an adult educator. Plus I am British so am not very good at showing emotions in public. Here is what I should have said to all my dear friends:

'Thank you for making me feel welcome and at home. Your refreshing outlook, your curiosity and warmth were dear to me. I wish I could have done as much for you all as you did for me. I hope that we can collaborate in future and show the world the prodigious talent not just in Zambia but throughout this continent.' Zikomo.
